Best Moments Of TWC SA Qualifier 2

Share this post:

We had a fantastic time watching the Thunderpick World Championship (TWC) 2024 South American Qualifier 2. The event delivered exciting Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) esports matches, as some of the best teams in the region competed for just one spot at the TWC 2024 main event.

Join us in reliving some of our favorite TWC 2024 SA Qualifier 2 moments as we share exciting highlights, the final results, and the standings with CS2 esports fans who couldn’t watch the action live.

Please note: The rankings and player ratings mentioned in this article reflect HLTV’s expert world rankings at the start of the TWC 2024 SA Qualifier 2.

Deco’s 3v1 Clutch

Despite being lower-ranked than inSanitY Sports, Argentinian side KRÜ Esports put up a dominating performance in the first round of the TWC 2024 SA Qualifier 2. We saw some stunning plays throughout the match, and one that stood out was a 3v1 clutch from KRÜ Esports’ Marcos “deco” Amato on Ancient in the second pistol round.

After deco’s four kills with three in a clutch situation, KRÜ Esports just ran away with the map, winning 13-6 and the series 2-0. Unfortunately, they were eliminated from the tournament in the next round, as eventual winners BESTIA showed no mercy and took them down with a clean sweep.

Noktse’s No-Scope Clutch

BESTIA’s IGL and AWPer, Nicolás “Noktse” Dávila, led by example in the team’s first match at the TWC 2024 SA Qualifier 2 against Vikings KR, topping the scoreboard. One of our favorite moments saw Noktse in a 2v1 clutch situation on Anubis with the Big Green in hand. At the time of the clutch, Vikings KR was ahead with a 5-0 score, looking to secure a sixth.

Noktse’s 2v1 clutch, walking into the B site with an AWP for close-quarters combat, and even hitting the no-scope shot to win the round was a thrilling and high-impact moment. If Noktse hadn’t hit that shot, the outcome of the map (and the entire match and tournament!) could have changed dramatically.

BESTIA Shocks Red Candis

Heading into the SA Qualifier 2, BESTIA was ranked 65th while RED Candis was ranked 42nd globally. RED Candis also recently added the legendary AWPer and Major winner Marcelo “coldzera” David to its roster, making the Brazilian side a favorite to win the event. That didn’t stop BESTIA from winning RED Candis’ map pick of Nuke and then shutting them down for good on Dust2.

BESTIA bested RED Candis 2-0 and avoided the comeback with a high-impact pistol round in the second half of Dust2, thanks to lurker Martín “tomaszin” Corna’s three kills that shut down the “Rush B” call.

arT Popping Heads For An Upset

paiN Gaming was the highest-ranked team (25th globally) at the start of the TWC 2024 SA Qualifier 2, and Fluxo was ranked 70th. However, Fluxo added Andrei “arT” Piovezan, one of the greatest Brazilian entry fraggers of all time, to its roster on May 9, 2024.

arT’s impact was undeniable. In the 11th round of Fluxo’s map pick (Mirage), when the score was tied 5-5, arT scored three kills—one with the AWP and two with a pistol through the smoke! The high-impact moment saw Fluxo take the lead and secure a 13-11 map win.

arT’s leadership and skill propelled Fluxo to achieve arguably the biggest upset of the SA Qualifier 2, eliminating paiN Gaming with a 2-0 score to earn a spot in the Grand Final.

Fluxo vs. BESTIA Grand Finale

On Fluxo’s map pick of Ancient, it was exceptionally close in the first half, with the teams tied 6-6. When the squads switched sides, however, BESTIA showed their prowess on the Terrorist side. They made quick work of Fluxo, who couldn’t string enough rounds together. BESTIA pushed their advantage to win Ancient with a score of 13-9.

With momentum now on their side, BESTIA didn’t give Fluxo time to breathe or recover. On the Argentinian side’s map pick of Dust2, the squad came out swinging with a massive lead of 10-2 on the Terrorist side. Fluxo could only manage one round in the second half of the map, as BESTIA convincingly won the map 13-3 and the TWC 2024 SA Qualifier 2 Grand Final with a clean 2-0 scoreline.

BESTIA’s entry fragger, Luciano “luchov” Herrera, stole the spotlight with an unreal 1.61 rating to become the Grand Final MVP.

BESTIA CS2 Roster

On July 8, 2024, BESTIA benched Nacho “Meyern” Meyer and added Uruguayan player Mauro “zock” Da Silva. The considerable roster move a couple of weeks before the TWC 2024 seems to have paid off, as zock’s impact was felt on the server, with a 1.41 player rating in the Grand Final. Check out the BESTIA roster below.

  • Nazareno “naz” Romero
  • Martín “tomaszin” Corna
  • Luciano “luchov” Herrera
  • Mauro “zock” Da Silva
  • Nicolás “Noktse” Dávila (IGL)
