This weekend, from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5, we’ll witness the Thunderpick World Championship playoffs and grand finals.

The Group Stage was a treat for CS2 esports fans, boasting some close matches, brilliant plays, and a couple of surprising results. Learn what happened during the Thunderpick World Championship 2023 Group Stage below and which teams made it to the finals.
Group A Results
In the opening match of Group A, we saw Cloud9 beat Fnatic 2-1 and then reverse-sweeped Virtus.pro in the winner’s match to top the group. The decider match in Group A featured an on-form Virtus.pro beating Fnatic 2-1, with the second map going into triple overtime.

Group B Results
FaZe Clan‘s domination of Group B was beautiful, beating SAW and Monte with decisive 2-0 scorelines. Monte recovered from their loss against FaZe and, in the decider match, defeated SAW 2-0 to claim 2nd place in Group B.

Group C Results
Despite being ranked 22nd in the world, Team Spirit came out swinging, smacking Complexity with a 2-0. Team Spirit then went on to cause the biggest upset thus far at the Thunderpick World Championship, beating the favorites, MOUZ, with a clean 2-0. MOUZ fought tooth and nail for their 2-1 win against Complexity in the decider match to earn a spot in the finals.

Group D Results
Sparks flew in Group D, with Danish powerhouse Heroic beating Nouns 2-1 in a closely contested match before claiming the top spot in the group by dramatically reverse-sweeping BIG. In the decider match, BIG bested the Brazilian hope, FURIA, with a 2-1 win after the second map went into overtime.

Spirit’s 18-year-old player, Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotia, shined brightly as the top performer. He had an impressive HLTV rating of 1.64 and earned the Group Stage MVP title.

Thunderpick WC 2023 Finals: What To Expect
Cancel your plans! The Thunderpick World Championship finals will keep you busy with top-tier CS2 esports action this weekend, from Nov. 3 to Nov. 5, 2023.
With the excellent South African host Sam “Tech Girl” Wright, expert analysts Anirudh “Paladin” Ajay and Allan “Allan” Hender, alongside several fantastic casters, the Thunderpick World Championship 2023 promises exciting, top-tier CS2 esports.
The remaining eight teams will compete in a single-elimination playoffs bracket, where all matches, including the finals, are best-of-three (BO3). All eight teams in the playoffs have already guaranteed themselves a piece of the $500,000 prize pool. Heading into the quarterfinals, they have set their sights on the title of Thunderpick World Champion and the first-place prize of $250,000.

You’ll find all the Thunderpick World Championship quarterfinal matchups, alongside start times on Nov. 3 and the teams’ HLTV World Ranking (Oct. 30 update) below.

- Cloud9 (#11) vs. BIG (#14), starting at 16:00 CET / 08:00 PDT.
- FaZe Clan (#5) vs. MOUZ (#4), starting at 19:00 CET / 11:00 PDT.
The first semifinal will commence on Nov. 4 at 13:00 CET / 05:00 PDT between the winner of Monte vs. Spirit and Heroic vs. Virtus.pro. On Nov. 4 at 16:00 CET / 08:00 PDT, the winners of Cloud9 vs. BIG and FaZe Clan vs. MOUZ will face off in the second semifinal match.
The Thunderpick World Championship final will start on Nov. 5 at 19:30 CET / 10:30 PST between the two teams who emerged as the victors in the semifinals.
The semifinals will be an absolute slugfest as the two top-ranked teams at Thunderpick World Championship, FaZe and MOUZ, face off. We are eager to see if Team Spirit can keep up its momentum from the Group Stage or if Monte will end their run. Cloud9 vs. BIG should also be an exciting match between two closely ranked teams.
Heroic vs. Virtus.pro may be highly contested despite the HLTV World Ranking difference. Heroic is in the midst of roster changes, most prominently the announced departure of IGL Casper “cadiaN” Møller, alongside the benching of Jakob “Jabbi” Nygaard and Martin “stavn” Lund.
