LPL Summer Split 2024 Schedule & Format
This year’s LPL Summer Split will take place at multiple locations in China from June 1 through September. It features 17 professional Chinese LoL teams competing in a new structured format: Group Stage (June 1-29), Rumble Stage (July 5-31), Play-In (Aug. 3-5), and Playoffs (ends in September).
Group Stage
The Group Stage will adopt a double Round Robin format with best-of-three matchups using Fearless Draft. Teams will be divided into four seeding pools based on their Spring Season standings, with the top two or three in each group advancing to the Ascend Group of the Rumble Stage. The rest proceed to the Nirvana Group.
Rumble Stage
The Rumble Stage will follow a single Round Robin format within each group, played as best-of-three series matches using Standard Draft. The top seven Ascend teams go directly to the Playoffs, while the bottom two teams join the top four Nirvana teams in the best-of-five series Play-In stage. The remaining teams will be eliminated.
Play-In & Playoffs
The three Play-In stage winners will advance to the Playoffs, and the rest will be eliminated. The Playoffs will follow a double elimination bracket, and all matchups will be played as best-of-five series. Ultimately, the LPL Summer Split 2024 champion will qualify for Worlds 2024 and win the lion’s share of ~$579,830.

Our Predictions For LPL Summer Split 2024

Bilibili Gaming
Bilibili Gaming (BLG) is the top contender for the LPL Summer Split 2024 title. Their victories at the Demacia Cup (9-1 record) and LPL Spring (15-1 record) are a testament to their dominance. The team secured the runner-up spot at MSI 2024, defeating Korean powerhouse T1 twice, despite falling short against Gen.G Esports.
This success is attributed to BLG’s lineup, with the acquisition of ex-JDG midlaner Knight (4.1 KDA) proving pivotal. Spring Finals MVP Elk (5.0 KDA) has also played a crucial role, excelling with ON bot. Bin (4.0 KDA) has been a standout performer, too, recognized as one of the best top laners globally.
Bilibili Gaming roster:
- Chen “Bin” Zebin
- Peng “Xun” Lixun
- Zhuo “knight” Ding
- Zhao “Elk” Jiahao
- Luo “ON” Wenjun
JD Gaming
JD Gaming (JDG) is stiff competition for BLG at this event. JDG was on the fast track to success following a string of impressive victories last year, including a three-peat at LPL Spring, Summer, and MSI in 2023. However, the team has struggled to replicate the same form after the departure of 369 and knight.
Despite this, JDG still secured top-3 finishes, including 2nd at Demacia Cup and 3rd at LPL Spring this year. The acquisition of ex-Team WE coach WarHorse also raises expectations for sheer (6.4 KDA) and Yagao (6.6 KDA), allowing Ruler (4.9 KDA) to shine as the premier ADC of the LPL and prove that the superteam is far from dead.
JD Gaming roster:
- Li “Flandre” Xuanjun
- Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok
- Zeng “Yagao” Qi
- Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk
- Lou “MISSING” Yunfeng
Top Esports
The odds favor Top Esports (TES) for a top-3 finish at LPL Summer Split 2024, and we’re not surprised. TES has a solid track record at domestic events, including 2nd place in the recent Spring Split. They also secured a respectable 5th-6th place at MSI, taking two games off the eventual champions Gen.G Esports before their elimination.
369 (3.7 KDA) has strengthened the lineup, especially considering the experience and skill Worlds champions Tian (4.6 KDA), JackeyLove (4.5 KDA), and Meiko (4.8 KDA) bring to the roster. The acquisition of Maokai as head coach could also be a game-changer for the team, providing them with insights to secure more decisive victories.
Top Esports roster:
- Bai “369” Jiahao
- Gao “Tian” Tianliang
- Lin “Creme” Jian
- Yu “JackeyLove” Wenbo
- Tian “Meiko” Ye
Ninjas in Pyjamas
Ninjas in Pyjamas’ (NIP) roster overhaul propelled them from 13th place at LPL Spring 2023 to a commendable 4th place at LPL Spring 2024. In the latter event, they even posted a 10-6 Group Stage record before suffering a narrow 2-3 defeat to JDG in the Lower Bracket Semifinal.
At the heart of NIP’s resurgence is Worlds champion Rookie (4.8 KDA), one of the LPL’s premier mid laners. His reunion with bot laner Photic (4.6 KDA) and support Zhuo (4.7 KDA) from Victory Five has further bolstered the team’s synergy, with rookie Shanji stepping up to the mark.
Still, the odds suggest caution. As NIP looks ahead to LPL Summer Split 2024, the team’s continued success hinges heavily on Rookie maintaining his form and the roster refining their macro play, which has been an area for improvement.
Ninjas in Pyjamas roster:
- Deng “Shanji” Zijian
- Mao “AKi” An
- Song “Rookie” Eui-jin
- Ying “Photic” Qishen
- Wang “Zhuo” Xuzhuo
Note: LNG Esports is also a notable contender for a top-4 spot at LPL Summer Split 2024.
