Ashe Build Guide
Why Ashe?
Ashe is a standout choice for the bot lane in League of Legends, with a pick rate of 10.84% and a win rate of 52.76%. Together, these stats should testify to her effectiveness in any meta. The best part? Her intuitive playstyle makes her a solid choice for new players still learning the ADC role.
However, what really sets Ashe apart from other ADCs is not raw burst damage but her invaluable utility and crowd control. Specifically, Ashe’s ult Enchanted Crystal Arrow is a powerful tool that can swing skirmishes and team fights in her favor by winning ganks or eliminating key targets.

Ashe Build Guide: Runes
This rune setup aims to boost Ashe’s auto-attack damage and attack speed in LoL. While you should be ready to mix things up based on your unique matchups, these choices are considered staples in Riot Games’ popular MOBA title.
Precision Path Runes
- Lethal Tempo: After landing basic attacks on enemy champions, Ashe’s attack speed and range are temporarily boosted, stacking up to six times. This buff amplifies her damage output, especially during extended trades and team fights. It also lets you capitalize on her kiting and crowd control (CC) abilities.
- Presence of Mind: Scoring a takedown or damaging an enemy champion restores 15% of Ashe’s maximum mana or boosts her mana regeneration, allowing her to cast more spells and ultimately deal more damage.
- Legend: Bloodline: This rune offers Ashe some additional sustain, granting up to 5.25% Life Steal and 85 bonus health at maximum Legend stacks. These are awarded every 100 points for champion or epic monster takedowns, large monster kills, or minion kills.
- Cut Down (situational alternative): This rune will allow Ashe to deal 5-15% more damage based on their max health difference. This bonus damage scales linearly, making it particularly effective against tanky lineups.
- Coup De Grace (situational alternative): Ashe can benefit from 8% increased damage when striking enemy champions under 40% max health—perfect for bursting down squishy enemies! Note that this rune does not amplify true damage but can amplify crit damage.
As mentioned earlier, Ashe may not boast the raw attack damage of marksmen like Draven, but rune setups like this can significantly accentuate her strengths by prolonging her onslaught and making her a formidable adversary in battle.
Inspiration Path Runes
- Biscuit Delivery: Ashe receives a Total Biscuit of Everlasting Will stack at 2, 4, and 6 minutes. Consuming or selling a biscuit instantly grants 40 mana and permanently increases Ashe’s maximum mana by 40.
- Approach Velocity: This rune grants Ashe a 7.5% bonus movement speed when approaching movement-impaired enemy champions within range. Thanks to her Frost Shot and Volley that apply a slow to enemies, Ashe can kite and chase down fleeing enemies more easily.
Pro Tip: Some LoL players opt for Magical Footwear instead of Biscuit Delivery for the extra movement speed. This can be more useful for kiting enemy champions, especially when paired with Approach Velocity.
Ashe Summoner Spells
- Flash (non-negotiable): Instantly teleports your champion a short distance toward a specified location within 400 range. Flash offers Ashe critical mobility, enabling her to escape threats, dodge hostile abilities, or strategically reposition herself during team fights.
- Ghost: Boosts Ashe’s movement speed by 24-48%, granting unit collision immunity for 15 seconds. It’s perfect for chasing down enemies or evading an impending death.
- Cleanse (situational alternative): As the name implies, Cleanse will remove most active debuffs and crowd control effects like stuns, roots, and slows. It’s particularly good on champions like Ashe, who rely on positioning to be most effective.
- Heal (situational alternative): Restores 80-318 HP for Ashe and nearby allies while increasing movement speed by 30% for 1 second. Use it to tactically lure enemies into overcommitting or evade a sticky situation.
Pro Tip: Most Ashe players will combo Flash and Ghost summoner spells in LoL. However, you can swap the latter for Cleanse if you’re up against heavy CC champions like Leona support. Otherwise, exchange it for Heal if you feel that you need the additional survivability.
Ashe Items
The following Ashe item suggestions should be good for most situations, but feel free to tweak these items based on the unique conditions of your matches. Remember, adaptability is key in LoL.
Starting Items
- Doran’s Blade (almost always)
- Health Potion
Doran’s Blade is a relatively common starter item for Ashe in LoL, particularly geared toward an aggressive playstyle early in the game. It provides additional health, damage, and life steal, which can lead to lane dominance and potentially even help you secure early kills.
Cull might be an alternative option if you’re adopting a passive approach and primarily want to focus on farming and scaling into the late game. It’s especially good against aggressive lane opponents like Draven and Leona, whose goal is to survive and not feed them kills.
Boots
- Berserker’s Greaves (almost always)
Consider Plated Steelcaps if facing a team heavy in AD to tank incoming physical damage more effectively. Otherwise, go with Mercury’s Treads if you’re up against enemy champions with significant AP or CC.
Mythic
- Trinity Force (almost always)
Note: Mythic Items will be removed from League of Legends starting January 2024.
Situational & Core Items
Only choose the most appropriate core items for your LoL match and playstyle.
- Kraken Slayer (non-negotiable)
- Blade of The Ruined King
- Lord Dominik’s Regards
- Guardian Angel
- Runaan’s Hurricane
- Immortal Shieldbow
You will almost always rush Kraken Slayer as your first core item. It synergizes particularly well with Ranger’s Focus and Lethal Tempo rune, making it a non-negotiable option in this Ashe LoL build. A common item order is: Kraken Slayer > Berserkers Grieves > Trinity Force.
After that, you’ll typically complete the build with Blade of the Ruined King, Lord Dominik’s Regards, and Guardian Angel. Runaan’s Hurricane and Immortal Shieldbow are decent alternatives for your 4th and 5th item choices, respectively.
Ashe Abilities
- Passive – Frost Shot: Ashe’s attacks and abilities apply Frost, slowing enemies by 20-30% and increasing her attack damage. Critical strikes double the slow to 40-60% but don’t increase damage.
- Q – Ranger’s Focus: Attacks grant Focus. At four stacks, Ashe can activate the ability for 25-55% bonus attack speed and change her basic attack into a flurry attack for 6 seconds. Each arrow deals 21%-25% AD physical damage and gains Frost Shot and Life Steal.
- W – Volley: Ashe releases 7-11 arrows in a cone, damaging and applying Frost Shot to all enemies hit. Each arrow deals 20-80 physical damage (+100% AD) to the first enemy hit and a slow.
- E – Hawkshot: Ashe sends a hawk spirit toward a specified location on the map, granting sight along its path and at its destination for 5 seconds. Ashe also periodically stocks a Hawkshot charge, up to two at a time.
- R – Enchanted Crystal Arrow: Ashe fires an arrow of ice globally that deals 200-600 magic damage (+120% AP) when it hits an enemy champion. It also stuns them for 1-3.5 seconds based on distance traveled, granting sight for 1 second. Surrounding enemies take 50% reduced damage and are afflicted with Frost Shot.
Pro Tip: A common skill order is W>Q>E for an Ashe ADC in LoL. As always, level R whenever possible. If you’re playing Ashe as a Support, you’ll prioritize a W>E>Q ability build.
