What is the International Esports Federation (IESF)?
The IESF is a South Korean esports organization that hosts the annual Esports World Championship every year.
At each Esports World Championship, a variety of different tournaments for the most popular esports games are played. Some of these games include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Tekken 7, PUBG Mobile, and more.
Currently, there are 130 country members that belong to the IESF. From Argentina to China, the list is huge and highlights just how popular (and relevant) the IESF is on the world’s stage.
In response to the growing popularity of female esports, the IESF has started to make some changes to how it operates as an organization. One of the biggest changes has been its recent expansion into the female esports world, as the IESF will now be hosting a female Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament at the World Esports Championship 2023. Let’s take a closer look at this.

Regarding this change, IESF President Vlad Mariescu stated:
“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of the women’s CS:GO tournament at this year’s World Esports Championships. This reflects the progress we have made in making esports more inclusive for all. We can’t wait to see what these incredible teams will bring to this year’s competition. IESF strongly believes in removing barriers to access for female gamers and providing them with more opportunities to shine on the world’s biggest stage.”
The World Esports Championship will happen in Iași, Romania. The start date is August 24, and the end date is September 4, so make sure to add it to your calendar.
