Heroic’s History
Heroic was founded in March 2013 as a “casual home” for Danish players in Copenhagen, helping players get to tournaments, facilitating the payment of tournament fees, and distributing prize winnings. Heroic essentially supported rising talents, like the legendary Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, while hosting community esports events in the capital city. But this quickly changed.
The organization was acquired by the Danish esports venture RFRSH in 2016, when it became the home for SK Gaming’s former CS:GO lineup. This marked a new chapter for Heroic. The team achieved massive success in Counter-Strike and expanded to other esports titles, including League of Legends, Battlefield 4, Starcraft II, and Hearthstone.
In 2018, Heroic was sold to Seranades Global Inc. in a divestment to comply with WESA and Valve’s multi-team ownership rules. The team was sold a third time to the Norwegian organization Omaken Sports in February 2021 before being acquired by Heroic Group AS on Aug. 8, 2023, in a 56 million NOK ($5.25 million) deal brokered by ULTI Agency, Krow Bidco AS.
