Our Predictions For VALORANT Champions 2024
On the biggest VALORANT esports stage, anything can happen. The annual event never disappoints, with plenty of upsets and surprises on the way to crowning a new world champion. It’s a thrilling tournament for fans, but it does make predicting the outcome challenging. Thankfully, we don’t shy away from a challenge. We’ve channeled our inner KAY/O to bring you our VALORANT Champions 2024 predictions, so let’s get started!
Please note: Our VALORANT Champions 2024 predictions are based on past results from VCT 2024 Stage 1 and Stage 2, alongside both Masters Shanghai and Masters Madrid events. We also consider matchup histories, expected player/team form, and recent roster changes and throw in a healthy dose of the author’s expert opinion. Never interpret these predictions as betting advice to act upon. Always gamble responsibly. You must be 18+ to play.
1. Gen.G Esports
Gen.G Esports is a solid pick to win it all, based on their performances during the VCT 2024 season. The team took 2nd place at VCT Pacific Stage 1 and Masters Madrid, then claimed 1st place at Masters Shanghai and VCT Pacific Stage 2. At the Stage 2 event, their prolific IGL, Munchkin, took no prisoners and was named the tournament MVP.
Gen.G Esports’ team and player form heading into VALORANT Champions 2024 is undeniable, as is their claim to the crown. Their roster has been together since November 2023, with no roster changes this year. They are undoubtedly a cohesive squad, synergizing so well that it would take something special to stop them from becoming the world champions.
Gen.G Esports roster:
- Kim “Meteor” Tae-o
- Kim “t3xture” Na-ra
- Kim “Karon” Won-tae
- Kim “Lakia” Jong-min
- Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom (IGL)
- Kang “solo” Keun-chul (Coach)
2. Leviatán
Throughout the VCT 2024 season, Leviatán has gotten progressively stronger. While a 9th-10th place at Masters Shanghai wasn’t all that impressive, the team placed third in Americas Stage 1 and then smashed G2 Esports 3-1 in the Grand Final of Americas Stage 2. Leviatán’s team form is peaking just as VALORANT Champions 2024 begins, and they’ll enter the event as the #1 seed for the Americas region.
We predict that Leviatán will continue their recent success and make it to the Grand Final. The squad features two world champions, Brazilian player aspas, who won VALORANT Champions 2022 with LOUD, and American C0M, who won VALORANT Champions 2023 with Evil Geniuses.
Leviatán roster:
- Corbin “C0M” Lee
- Ian “tex” Botsch
- Erick “aspas” Santos
- Roberto “Mazino” Bugueño
- Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena (IGL)
- Dimitar “Itopata” Staev (Coach)
3. Fnatic
Fnatic boasts a star-studded lineup, with four of the five players appearing on our list of the VALORANT players of 2023. While the team had a slow start to the 2024 season, they bounced back with a 1st place finish at both VCT 2024 EMEA Stage 1 and Stage 2 and earned a solid 7th-8th place finish at Masters Shanghai.
So why didn’t we pick Fnatic to go all the way and win VALORANT Champions? Well, their Swedish superstar Leo “Leo” Jannesson, who usually plays the critical Initiator role and is considered one of the best players in clutch situations, won’t be playing.
In June 2024, Fnatic announced that Leo was taking time away from the game following concerns about his health, and the organization acquired Emirhan “hiro” Kat to fill that role. Of course, the team could still win the entire event, but a big roster change like that may impact their performance.
Fnatic roster:
- Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev
- Emir “Alfajer” Beder
- Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov
- Emirhan “hiro” Kat
- Jake “Boaster” Howlett (IGL)
- Domagoj “Doma” Fancev (Substitute)
- Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit (Coach)
4. FunPlus Phoenix
Consider FunPlus Phoenix in 4th position as our bold prediction for this event. The team finished 2nd in VCT 2024: China Kickoff, Stage 1, and Stage 2 events behind EDward Gaming. Despite multiple 2nd place finishes in the Chinese scene, FunPlus Phoenix showed incredible form in the Grand Final of VCT China Stage 2, with young star Lysoar Youhao popping off.
If the squad can overcome their successive losses in the Grand Finals, and IGL BerLIN keeps making brilliant calls, they can exceed expectations.
FunPlus Phoenix roster:
- Zhang “AAAAY” Yang
- Liang “Lysoar” Youhao
- Kale “autumn” Dunne
- Qu “Life” Donghao
- Chang “BerLIN” Po-lin (IGL)
- Deng “NaThanD” Senqiao (Coach)
- Hao “guigui” Wang (Coach)
EDward Gaming is a solid alternative to FunPlus Phoenix, who claimed 1st place at VCT 2024 China Stage 2 and is the #1 seed for the region.
